Children often enter therapy when they experience one or more of the following: challenging behaviors (e.g., defiance, aggression), depression, anxiety, social challenges (e.g., bullying), anger, grief, or coping with separation and divorce.
Angela has over 10 years of experience working with children and adolescents at local children’s mental health agencies as well as through her private practice. Her experience means that she has vast knowledge of child development and mental health challenges and extensive experience providing therapy in a way that can “reach” children. Angela offers very individualized, activity/play-based therapy that often includes cognitive-behavioral therapeutic (CBT) techniques (for more on CBT click here). Angela has certificates in trauma-focused CBT (tf-CBT) for children from the Medical University of South Carolina and Trauma Assessment and Treatment for Children and Adolescents from SafeGuards Training.
